Pens and Pencils Creating custom handmade pens is one of the most enjoyable aspects of woodturning. The pen kits I use are of the highest quality and use standard ink refills available at any office supply store. I create pens using blanks I cut from wood collected here in North Texas, but I also use more exotic woods from South America and Africa. My pens are turned to precise dimensions and are sanded glass-smooth before receiving a durable finish. Some woods like Purpleheart will darken naturally with age, others like Cocobolo will retain their original coloration for much longer. Some of my most beatiful pens are made from a Spalted Ash burl I collected myself near Hutchins, Texas. My inventory of pens is always changing so check back often to see what I have on hand.
